Festival & Strawberry Picking FAQs

As we prepare for this year’s harvest, here are some of the questions we’re asked most often.

IS IT RIPE?

Strawberries do not continue to ripen after picked so only pick the reddest, ripest berries.

ROTATING PICKING LOCATIONS

We rotate our strawberry fields every three years, and we also close sections regularly to give the plants time to produce more fruit (and to give our field crew a chance to keep everything in great shape). So if you’ve picked strawberries in a certain spot before, don’t be surprised if we send you somewhere new this time. Think of it as a little berry adventure - same sweet strawberries, just a different corner of the field!

Weekday STRAWBERRY PICKing

The strawberry fields are open on most weekdays. It works similarly to weekend options where tickets become available as we monitor the field. The best way to see is to visit our TODAY page on Sunday evenings where we'll post the upcoming week's availability and online tickets.

STRAWBERRY SEASON LENGTH

Strawberry season in Massachusetts is relatively short typically beginning the first week of June and ending late-May.

KEEPING UP ON THE BERRY SEASON

Mother Nature rules and the berries follow! It's best to plan ahead:

AND... If you miss strawberry season, fear not! Blueberry season begins July 4th!

PHOTOGRAPHERS & MINI SESSIONS

For those who wish to use the strawberry field for personal or business use, tickets are required. If you are looking for a private experience, we encourage you to come at the end of the day closer to 3-4 pm when fewer people are in the field. Fields close promptly at 5:30 pm.

See you in the strawberry field!
