BEHIND THE SCENES
Planting Cherries
In 2021, Cider Hill Farm's field crew hand-planted 600 sweet cherry trees. You can see here the true story behind New England land full of rocks and boulders. Once the trees were set, then irrigation and drainage were completed. Now, in 2026, these trees are finally ready to harvest.
Meet Our Cherries - Sweet, Tart, and Tempting to Pick!
CHELAN
The Early Rise
The Chelan is the first sweet cherry to ripen for the summer season. With each bite, you’ll get a rush of this berry’s rich taste and dark red color.
REGINA
The European Sweetheart
This international fruit comes from Germany and is our late-season cherry. While cherries can be prone to cracking, this fruit has thicker skin, making it more resistant to these cracks. Every bite gives a rush of sweet, tart, and rich flavors.
BLACK PEARL
Deep, Dark, and Delicious
Black Pearl cherries offer an intense, sweet flavor in a small, glossy black package. They're perfect for those who love rich, concentrated cherry tastes.
RAINIER
Golden Sweetness
Rainier strays away from the cherry pack, with a golden yellow and rose color. With a sugary-sweet taste, these cherries are ready to pick during the peak of the summer season.
JUBILEUM
Rich, Dark, and Versatile
A Hungarian variety that walks the line between sweet and tart, Jubileum is perfect for eating fresh or turning into something delicious in the kitchen.
MONTMORENCY
The Pie - Maker's Favorite
America’s most popular tart cherry, Montmorency, is a must for baking, preserving, and juicing. If you're here to pick for pies, this is your tree.
Cherry Picking FAQs
As we prepare for this year’s harvest, here are some of the questions we’re asked most often.
IS IT RIPE?
Cherries do not continue to ripen after picked so only pick the ripest, darkest red sweet cherries and reddest sour cherries.
