The simpler, the better.

Can you remember a time when people lived life at a slower pace?  When families took walks together?  When parents didn’t have to make time for “quality time” with their children?  Well, at Cider Hill Farm in Amesbury, Massachusetts, we’d like to help transport you back to that bygone era.  You’ll experience life’s simple pleasures when you visit our family-run farm, and explore its over 145 acres of rolling fruit orchards, vegetable fields and woodlands.

Cider Hill Farm began nearly a quarter of a century ago when Ed and Eleanor Cook purchased the old Battis Dairy Farm with the hope of transforming it into an apple farm.  Not long after that, the Cook’s son, Glenn, along with his new bride, Karen, bought the adjacent Vedrani Poultry Farm so they could start a quality life together.  Now, with three generations of Cooks diligently tending to the chores, we’re proud to bring you Cider Hill Farm; a special spot where families and individuals can come and savor the fruits of their labor.

Seems like our hard work has really paid off.  We were chosen to host a special segment on the long-running PBS series “The Victory Garden”, representing the classic New England Family Farm.  Glenn was also invited to tape two shows on fruit production with Roger Swain, the longest-running host on “The Victory Garden”.  In addition, our cold-pressed natural apple cider was awarded “Best in State” four times in a competition sponsored by the Massachusetts Department of Food and Agriculture, as well as five consecutive wins for “Best in Eastern Region of Massachusetts”.

Cider Hill Farm may have been created to re-capture the simple pleasures of the family farms of yesteryear, but not everything we do here is old fashioned.  The truth is, we take great pride in the fact that we use the Internet to keep the farm’s many members, supporters and visitors well informed of all the special activities that are going on here.  To find out what we’re up to, simply stroll the pages of our Web site.  Then, come and discover for yourself what a growing experience it is to visit and be part of the Cider Hill Farm experience!
