Q: What crops can we pick and when?

A: At Cider Hill Farm, we have pick your own for strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, peaches, plums, nectarines, apples and pumpkins. The exact timing of these will best be determined by looking at our News & Updates page at the top of the index on the right, at crop schedules, or from our email postcard we send as we begin to pick each crop. You can sign up for this in Contact.

Q: Do we have to bring our own containers?

A: We provide containers for all our pick your crops.

Q: How do you charge for the different crops?

A: Unlike many other farms who charge by a specific sized bag or container, we charge by the pound. We feel this builds in much more flexibility for our customer, and does not dictate a minimum to bo picked.

Q: Is "Picking Your Own"cheaper than buying in the store?

A: Our pricing for most crops is very similar whether you pick, or we pick for you. This has come from many years of observing high levels of damage caused to our crops by the masses, and though we do appreciate the business, we have no way to salvage the losses.

Q: Do my kids have to stay with me when I pick?

A: Yes. Please! Especially in the strawberry patch. Little feet can do so much damage while looking for that one big berry. We would like to have children stay arm's length in the patches, and close by in the open fields. This is not to say that we don't love having the children come and experience the wonders of our farm.

Q: How do we know what apples are ready?

A: The best way is to look at the picking guide we provide.

Q: How do I know when a peach is perfect for picking?

A: The ground color turns from greenish to yellow, and the peach has a swell to it. Also, make sure you know where we suggest you pick
